Handmade Bespoke Media Walls for Berkshire Homes

Having a TV on an empty wall is one thing, but a custom-made media wall is a different story altogether. It transforms the room, keeping all the cables out of sight, storing any clutter, and creating a central point that looks like it was carefully thought out, rather than just thrown together. This way, the whole space feels more cohesive and put together.  We create custom media walls at Corbett Carpentry, making each one in our Finchampstead workshop to fit perfectly in homes throughout Reading, Wokingham, Bracknell, and the surrounding areas of Berkshire, Hampshire, and Surrey. Because we make every piece to measure, it fits your space, your style, and your needs - not some standard design from a showroom.

Why Choose a Bespoke Fitted Media Wall?

Off-the-shelf TV units can look fine in a catalogue. In a real home, with real walls that aren't quite square, ceilings that vary in height, and alcoves that don't match a standard dimension, they rarely deliver what you were hoping for.

We create a bespoke media wall that's tailored to your room's unique shape. Our team takes exact measurements, considering every nook and cranny, to design a piece that looks like it was always part of the space. The end result is a flawless finish that you just can't replicate with mass-produced furniture, regardless of the price tag.

A good media wall is more than just looks - it fixes a lot of everyday issues that people have been dealing with for a long time. Like, where do you put all those cables so they don't get tangled up everywhere? And what about the console and soundbar - they need a home too. Then there's the shelves - they're either too deep and you can't find anything, or too shallow and everything falls over. And don't even get started on storage - it might look nice when the doors are closed, but when you open them up, it's a whole different story.

What We Build

Every media wall we make is different, because every room and every client is different. That said, there are a few things that stay consistent across every project we take on.

Your TV is mounted at just the right height, and all the cables are neatly hidden from view. There's no ugly trunking or wires cluttering up the space, just a clean and sleek look that doesn't compromise on style or functionality. Everything is tucked away behind the joinery, giving your room a tidy and organized feel.

Integrated storage — lower cupboards for consoles, routers, and anything else you'd rather not see. Open shelving for books, ceramics, or the things you actually want to display.

Adding some lights to a room can really make it feel different at night. You can put special lights, called LED strips, above, below, or behind things in the room. It's a small detail, but it makes a big difference and doesn't cost a lot to add when you're building or designing the space.

We often build fireplaces right into media walls, using either electric or gas fires. This creates a real centerpiece for the room. If you're thinking about getting a fireplace, putting it in your media wall can be a great way to do it - it's often the most practical and cost-effective option.

If your room is missing a natural architectural feature, don't worry, we can create one for you. A false chimney breast that's well-designed can add a sense of depth and make your media wall feel more solid and permanent, which is something a flat design just can't match.

We use top-quality materials like premium MDF, plywood, and hardwood veneers as standard. You've got lots of choices when it comes to finishes - painted, real wood, or shaker-style doors, and even glazed sections. We'll go through all the options with you to find the ones that fit your room and your budget.

Our Process

We start with a casual meeting at your place, where we take a look around and chat about what you're trying to do. No pressure, no sales pitch - just a relaxed conversation to get things started.

Our design process starts with our expert designer creating detailed drawings and a 3D visualisation of your project, so you can get a clear picture of what to expect before we even begin work. This way, you'll know exactly what you're getting, and we can make sure everything meets your expectations.

We make everything by hand in our workshop in Berkshire. We don't send the work elsewhere or use cheaper materials to save time or money.

We take care of installing your media wall, making sure it's done neatly and quickly. Our team works with a qualified electrician to get all the cables and lighting just right, so everything is safe and ready to go. When we're finished, we leave the room clean and tidy, so you can start using it right away.

We usually finish most media wall projects in about one to two weeks after we agree on an installation date. When we give you a quote, we'll let you know exactly how long it will take.

How Much Does a Bespoke Media Wall Cost?

We'd rather give you a straight answer after seeing your space, because every project is unique. That being said, to give you a rough idea:

This pricing is based on sizes so a smaller media wall will start from £2000, mid range around 3m will be £4000 and the larger media wall can cost up to £6000. There are other factors to consider which will influence the price but hopefully this will give you an idea of the range.

The biggest factors are size, the complexity of the joinery, the materials you choose, and whether you are adding a fireplace or extensive lighting. We will walk you through all of this clearly when we provide your quote — no surprises.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How much does a bespoke fitted media wall cost?

A: So, you're probably wondering how much a custom media wall is going to set you back. Well, the thing is, every project is unique, so the cost can vary quite a bit. It really depends on a few key factors: the size of the wall, how complicated the joinery is, the materials we use, and whether you want to add any fancy features like an electric fireplace or integrated lighting. To give you a rough idea, a smaller custom media wall might start at around £2,000. If you're looking at something a bit bigger, say around 3 metres wide, you're probably looking at more like £4,000. And if you want a really large, complex wall with all the bells and whistles, it could cost up to £6,000. But don't worry, we're not going to leave you in the dark. We'll come to your home, do a free survey, and give you a clear quote that outlines all the costs. No hidden surprises, we promise. We'll walk you through all the options and make sure you know exactly what you're getting for your money.

Q: How deep does a media wall need to be?

A: A media wall is usually around 300mm to 400mm deep. This gives us enough room to fit your TV bracket, a slim electric fire, and all the cables without making the wall stick out too much into the room. Since we make everything to fit your space, we can change the size to make sure it looks just right in your room and doesn't make it feel too small. We want to make sure everything fits perfectly and your room feels comfortable.

Q: How long does a media wall take to build and install?

A: We can usually get everything done in your home in just a day or two. To minimize the hassle and mess, we do most of the building work in our workshop in Finchampstead before we even arrive at your place. So, from the time we agree on an installation date, it normally takes around two to fourweeks weeks to complete a standard project.

Q: Can you integrate a fireplace, and do they give off heat?

A: Can you integrate a fireplace, and do they give off heat?
We often combine electric and gas fires with our media walls to create a beautiful, cohesive centerpiece. The modern electric media wall fires look really realistic and give off a good amount of heat, usually between 1kW to 2kW, to help warm up the room. What's great about most models is that they also have a "flame-only" setting, which lets you enjoy the ambiance all year round without the heat. This way, you can have the cozy feel of a fire whenever you want, even in the warmer months.

Q: Do you handle the messy cables, wiring, and electrical work?

A: One of the best things about a custom media wall is that it gets rid of messy wires and ugly cables for good. We work with a professional electrician to make sure all the sockets, TV aerials, and lighting cables are installed safely and hidden from view behind the woodwork. By the time we're finished, everything is ready to go and looks great.

Q: Can you include custom storage for consoles, routers, and soundbars?

A: Most store-bought TV units just don't fit our modern gadgets. That's why we create custom storage that's tailored to your way of living. We can add special features like ventilated cabinets on the bottom for your games console and Sky box, so they don't overheat. We can also make sure there's a perfect spot for your soundbar, and some open shelves to show off your favorite books and decorative pieces.

Q: Are your media walls pre-built kits or truly bespoke?

A: We build everything from the ground up in our workshop in Berkshire, using only the best materials like MDF, plywood, and hardwood veneers. You won't find any flat-pack kits or generic templates here, every piece is one of a kind. We think about all the little things that make your home unique, like walls that aren't quite straight, ceilings that are a bit higher or lower than usual, and those tricky alcoves that can be hard to work with. Our goal is to create a final product that looks like it was always meant to be there, a perfect part of your home's architecture.

Q: Which local areas do you cover for installation?

A: We create and put in custom media walls in lots of areas, like Berkshire, North Hampshire, and Surrey. The main places we work in are Reading, Wokingham, Bracknell, Ascot, Crowthorne, and the villages around them, such as Earley, Woodley, and Twyford. We also often go to Yateley, Fleet, and Camberley to do jobs. If you're not sure if we work in your area, just give us a call to find out.
